Mazda has collaborated with Nippon Steel to improve the design and production processes for the Mazda CX-5, aiming for future joint ventures on other models. This partnership has streamlined procurement by utilizing a nearby steel manufacturing plant, resulting in reduced transportation costs, lower inventory, and decreased carbon emissions. The CX-5’s body is now 10% lighter while maintaining safety, reflecting Mazda’s commitment to efficient manufacturing. Both companies plan to deepen their cooperation to enhance technology and reduce costs, aligning with Mazda’s Lean Asset Strategy outlined in its 2030 Management Policy.
