UK drone operator Skylift UAV and European manufacturer FlyingBasket have partnered with offshore wind developer Ørsted to launch the UK’s first large-scale offshore drone delivery program. Over six and a half weeks, they completed over 600 flights, transporting 38.1 tonnes of equipment to 400 wind turbines at Hornsea and Walney. Using FlyingBasket’s FB3 drones, deliveries were expedited from hours to minutes, cutting emissions and costs significantly while enhancing safety. This initiative showcases the potential of drone technology in improving offshore logistics for renewable energy.
